NFTs for U and ME
This week was NFT.NYC, and though our team did not attend 😿, we were there in spirit 👻 along with many projects that call xDai home.
One such project making waves this week was crypto wine - another Austrian project (see crypto stamp) blazing a trail and bridging the physical / digital divide. Cryptowine tokenizes wine; auction buyers receive an NFT they can redeem for their wine bottle when the time is right or trade on the open market. The project stores the wine in a professional-grade cellar until it is ready for redemption. It’s a new and exciting use case for NFTs - remember, you saw it first on xDai!
Many other NFT based projects have used xDai for a long time (like POAP), some have more recent usage (like DarkForest Artifacts), and others are just finding the benefits that come from an xDai deployment. Low cost GREEN 🍃 minting with stable fees you can plan for.
Yesterday we were reminded of this once again when minting an NFT on xDai and minting a second one on Ethereum. It’s a stark contrast, and one that xDai solves today and into the future.
xDai Updates
EIP- 1559: The block number has been set (19,040,000) and we eagerly anticipate the London HF and EIP-1559 activation on xDai. Likely date is now Nov 12 based on current block production. If you are a node runner or validator using OE or Nethermind, it’s time to update!!!
💡Upgrade Instructions💡POA Merger: We welcome the POA community to the xDai chain! POA token holders can now exchange POA for STAKE on xDai. Holders need to bridge POA to WPOA on xDai, then use the swapping application to convert it to STAKE. This swap will be available for 6 months. Learn more.
Project Updates
Agave continues to gain traction on xDai. This week their TVL crossed 3M and rewards are on the rise once again. Follow their discord for the latest updates.
PolyNetwork announced an xDai integration. Transfer assets across multiple chains including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Neo, Ontology, Heco, BSC, OEC, Polygon, & Arbitrum.
Mt Pelerin announced their MPS token on xDai, the first cross-chain security token. You can now move MPS between xDai and Ethereum using the swap button built into their mobile wallet. Mt Pelerin also offers a fiat on-ramp for xDai users
